Imphal, August 18 2022:
Dissatisfied with the lackadaisical attitude of Manipur University authority over promotion matters, teaching and non-teaching staff of Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) have drawn attention of the Governor (MU chief rector) and the chief minister for helping them in ensuring their entitled rights particularly the long pending promotion.
According to a reliable source, many teaching and non-teaching staff of MIT, which is being run under University Grant Commission (UGC), are denied promotion and many of them have retired without getting promotion despite working at the institute for more than 25 years much due to neglect of MU authority.
Citing one reason or another, MU authority deliberately delays promotion process for both teaching and non-teaching staff of MIT, thereby leaving many deserving staff of the institute un-promoted despite working for more than 20 years.
However, MU initiated promotion process for its employees in time and DPC process for promotion of non-teaching staff of the varsity had been initiated very recently.
A training programme for employees of MU including MIT staff was held at MIMS conference hall following issuance of a notice by MU deputy registrar (administration) on May 30, 2022.Though several training programmes for MU employees and MIT staff were held from time to time, promotion processes were initiated only for MU employees, leaving out MIT staff, the source said, adding that MU authority is yet to take up even a single step for promotion of MIT staff.
The source further said that written test for promotion of non-teaching employees of MU including senior assistant stenographer, assistant, junior assistant was held on May 30 following a notification issued in this regard by deputy registrar (administration) Dr RK Jotin.
Non-teaching staff of MIT who joined service the same day with MU staff remained stick to their posts without getting any promotion when MU staff got promoted.
Accordingly, many staff of MIT have retired without any promotion while several staff of the institute are about to retire with no hope of promotion.
