Science Meet ends

The five-day long Science Meet-2014 organized by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) in association with STFM, MAPS, MASC and GENIM concluded at Manipur Science Aquarium, DM College Campus here today.
The closing function was attended by former Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University and former Chairman of Manipur Public Service Commission Prof IS Khaidem as Chief Guest and Director of MASTEC Th Surendranath as President, while Director of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur Uttamchand Laishram attended as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof IS Khaidem said that the key to success in one's life is only hard work and so the students must toil in order to achieve great things in their lives.

He further advised the students to devote their valuable time to their studies and work for the welfare of the society.
They should have the scientific temperament and be able to make innovations for the betterment of mankind, Prof Khaidem exhorted.
Director of MASTEC Surendranath said that the response of the students is quite overwhelming.
Altogether 31 teams took part in the Science Meet which began from May 11 .
Various competitions on science models, quiz, painting etc.
were held during the five-day Science Meet.
During the closing ceremony, Manoharmayum Manihar Sharma was presented Dr Ibeyaima Innovation Award-2014 for his solar silk reeling cum spinning machine.
This award carrying cash prize of Rs.20,000 and a citation is donated by Manipur Association of Canada (MAC) in the name of late Dr Hijam Ibeyaima.
The prizes for the winners of various competitions were also distributed during the closing function.
