Laimayum Ibotombi Memorial Lecture programme held

Marking the one month completion of the demise of Laimayum Ibotombi, protagonist of Bir Singh in 'Abir Khan' play, Sana Leibak Nachom Artistes' Association organized the Laimayum Ibotombi Memorial Lecture programme today at the residential premises of the demised artiste located at Irom Meijrao.
The programme was attended by Dr M Nara, Naba Wareppa, Luwangthem Tarpon and Phurailatpam Gunachandra as Presidium Members.
Theatre critic Narendra Ningomba, Shumang Leela artiste Hiyang Lukhoi, theatre critic Dr Lamabam Gojen, Columnist Nando Luwang, Writer Dr Yumnam Tomba, and Educationist Maibam Ibomcha, delivered the memorial lecture.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nara stated that late Laimayum Ibotombi, also known as Eigya Ibotombi, was a dedicated and talented artiste who understood the nuances of Shumang Leela art form very well.
He also underlined the need for setting up of Shumang Leela institute where achievements and records of great artistes like Ibotombi could be known.
Narendra Ningomba recalled that the revolution of theatre started way back in 1902 in the State and Ibotombi as a dedicated artiste was instrumental in consolidating the Shumang Leela art form.
He expressed his desire for organizing the memorial lecture programme at State level so as to make known to the public the acting theory and methodology adopted by the late artiste.
To mark the occasion, 'Mangluraba Lan' play of Sana Leibak Artistes' Association directed by Laishram Tomba was staged.
