Sarangthem Sachikumari mother of Sarangthem Sharliza Annoly, the topper of HSLC Exam 2014 has underscored the importance of parental care and guidance in grooming and educating their wards.
Sachikumari who teaches Mathematics at Wangoi Higher Secondary School said that she conducted test every day for Sharliza till Class VIII at home.
This routine activity helped Sharliza to secure the top position, said the proud mother.
Sharliza's parents hail from Wabagai Keithel Macha and stayed in rented rooms at Konung Mamang for around 10 years.
Sharliza's father Manihar too echoed the need for parents to pay continuous attention to the requirements and well being of their children.

Manihar and his family now live at Mongshangei Boroi Makhong.
Sharliza is the second of three siblings born to her parents.
She has one elder brother and a younger sister.
Speaking to media persons at her home this evening, Sharliza said that she felt elated on learning the news of her topping HSLC Exam-2014 but not surprised for she was always confident of securing the top position.
She attributed her success to the God, parents, teachers, friends and well wishers.
She studied up to KG class in Catholic School Canchipur before shifting to Nirmalabas.
She said that she would study up to Class XII in Manipur.
Sharliza was taught by her parents at home till Class VIII.
By the time she was promoted to Class IX, she went for tuition class for all subjects.
On being enquired why she needed tuition class for all subjects, the topper said that tuition class enabled her to gain additional knowledge.
She further revealed that to be an IAS officer is her goal.
