8 persons apprehended in hotel drive

In a moral policing drive aimed at curbing increasing crime and violence against women in the State, the Organization for Indian Crimes Against Women picked up eight persons including a young boy and a girl from four different hotels in the City today.
The drive was carried out by about 25 volunteers of the Organization led by its Secretary A Robita Leima at around 11.30 am.
Couples, who were having extra-marital affairs, were caught from each of the four hotels namely Northern Hotel, Paona Bazar; Prince Lodge, Paona Bazar; Tomba Hotel, Governor Road; and City Heart, Thangal Bazar.
Addressing media persons at the office of Organization for Indian Crimes Against Women after the drive, Secretary Robita said that the organization has been conducting similar drives at restaurants and hotels for the past few years to check immoral activities, which are a cause for myriad crimes and violence against women in the State.
She further said that restaurants and hotels have now become breeding grounds for immoral activities with increasing indulgence from men and women irrespective of their ages.
The drive was carried out with permission from the SP of Imphal West L Jayenta, Robita added.
The Secretary appealed to the people to refrain from such immoral acts and take up constructive tasks for the welfare and development of the society.
The volunteers of the organization would remain vigilant all the time to check immoral activities in the State.
The apprehended persons would be handed over to the City police for further action, Robita added.
