Thoubal, April 28 2019 2019:
State Govt is trying to suppress the glorious past and heroic contribution of the brave sons of Manipur who had sacrifice their life to save their motherland from the British on Khongjom War, said a statement issued by President, Khongjom War Memorial Trust (KWMT), M Hemanta.
In the statement, he criticized the decision made not to publish the special issue "Khongjom Day" of Manipur Today during a special meeting held on April 15, which was published in local dailies released by DIPR adding that such decision was never taken before and was a crude mistake.
He further demanded that let the public know under which authority the copy and proceedings of the meeting was approved including the names of the authorised persons and the officers present in the meeting, the statement added.
Distributing "Go to Village Mission" booklet on such auspicious day instead of 'Khongjom Day' saying that it violates Election Model Code of Conduct is a contradictory statement and a self-serving propaganda, maintained the statement and urged the State Govt to clarify on what basis special issue 'Khongjom Day' breached EMCC.
It may be mentioned that the last Lok Sabha election in 2014 was held in April in Manipur and concerned DIPR published Manipur Today's special issue "Khongjom Day" while Model Code of Conduct was enforced.
