Water supply scheme at Dampi village fails to provide water

Water Supply Scheme at Dampi village under Shamulamlan Sub-Division in Saikot AC, Churachandpur District has failed to function properly after its constuction was completed four years back and is on the verge of becoming defunct water supply scheme during dry season, reports our correspondent.
The construction of said water supply scheme was started in 2011 with due approval and was completed in 2015 by Public Health Engineering Dept, with the total cost of Rs 6.5 crore funded by Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) under DONER.
It was speculated that said water supply scheme will fulfill the need of water supply to 6000 residents of Sagang, Dampi, Khunomphai, Tuiringphaison, Nungthang Tampak, Shamulamlan, Lalumbung, Thaithak B, Bungshanglen, Maramphai, Langshei Tampak, M Kananphai, Thampiren, Lukhumbi.
Speaking to the reporters, villager Jamkholen Lhungdim said that the said water supply scheme is constructed on his property and he did not charge any money from the authority thinking that the scheme will help realised their long cherish dream of ample water supply in his village and other surrounding villages.
However, all their hopes have been dashed as the scheme failed to meet their expectations and lamented the poor quality work done in constructing the reservoir and other structure.
He continued that the said water supply scheme is a total failure and urged the State Govt and concerned authority for immediate intervention to make it functional at the earliest.
