Chandel, April 28 2019 2019:
The JAC constituted against the burning down of St Joseph's Higher Secondary School, Sugnu has served an ultimatum to the State Government to nab all the persons involved in burning down the school building on the fateful evening of April 25.Speaking to media persons at the school campus today, JAC member Moirangthem Sangeeta said it was very unfortunate that some unknown miscreants burned down the only higher secondary school of the area on the fateful night of April 25.Denouncing the arson in the strongest terms, the JAC said it will enforce indefinite bandh/total shutdown in and around Sugnu bazar from 6 pm of May 2 if the State Government fails to nab all the persons involved in burning down the school building on or before April 30.The decision was taken in a joint meeting held today with the JAC members, parents, CSO leaders and village chiefs of the area, she added.
Sangeeta further warned that the JAC will be compelled to intensify its agitation including imposition of State-wide indefinite bandh in association with like-minded individuals and CSOs if the State Government does not fulfil the JAC's demand even after enforcing the proposed indefinite bandh at Sugnu area.
JAC Secretary Vincent Zou said that some edited photographs of the six students who were suspended by the school authority were found uploaded and went viral on social media.
Uploading such photographs and unwanted comments on social media about the students would not do any good but it will negatively affect the students psychologically.
As such, all the individuals concerned are requested to remove those photographs and refrain from posting unwanted comments about them on social media, the JAC Secretary appealed.
While expressing gratitude to all individuals and CSOs for extending support, JAC Chairman John Thangjalet Haokip informed that the committee has its door opened for those good samaritans who are willing to help and support in reconstructing the school building.
