Imphal, April 28 2019 2019:
Alleging that an area measuring 22.2 acre at Tinsid Konjil, under Top Dusara GP, Imphal East district, was illegally allotted in the name of Mega Manipur Society (MMS) on May 21, 2004, various associations and organisations of the area have demanded the Revenue Department to revoke the allotment order immediately threatening that any untoward incident caused by the failure to do so will be the sole responsibility of the State Govt and MMS.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Top Dusara Land Protection Committee convenor as well as Pradhan of Top Dusara GP, Mayanglambam Surbala said that the said area measuring 22.2 acre, covers many farmlands, roads and ponds which are used by the people of the area and the said area was illegally allotted to MMS on May 21, 2004.Demanding immediate cancellation of the order, she said that the Top Dusara GP, Top Dusara Land Protection Committee, locals clubs, Meira Paibi lups, VLFs and other NGOs are united in this matter.
She then alleged that by completely violating a previous agreement which was reached between the representatives of Top Dusara GP and MMS, the allotment order was issued in cahoots between the then Chairperson of MMS, the Revenue Minister of the time and other officials concerned.
She also explained that the allotment order is void as per the Manipur Panchayati Raj Act 1994 .
Informing that a memorandum was already submitted to the Revenue Commissioner on April 20, she continued that the same memo has also been sent to the CM, Revenue Minister, local MLA and Imphal East DC.
She then alleged that when the locals went to meet the Revenue Commissioner yesterday, the official failed to address the situation properly which has raised suspicion of a conspiracy.
As such, she demanded the authorities concerned to do the needful at the earliest and eliminate the apprehension in the minds of the locals .
