Test capacity drops; two deaths, 195 new cases reported

Imphal, September 12 2021: As the state is witnessing fluctuations in daily positivity rate in the last few days, daily test capacity has dropped substantially with only 2995 samples tested in the last 24 hours out of which 195 new positive cases confirmed, thus registering a positivity rate of 6.51 per cent, which is a significant drop from Saturday's 9.04 per cent.

On the other hand, the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported two Covid-19 deaths with both residents of Imphal West district.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1811 .

Out of the two, one had co-morbidities and the other had received 1st dose of Covid vaccine.

So far, 98 vaccinated individuals including seven fully vaccinated individuals have lost their lives to Covid-19 in the state.

Though the positivity rate dropped significantly on Sunday, Chandel and Pherzawl districts recorded double digit positivity rates at 12.9 and 12 per cent respectively while Imphal West reported 9.9 per cent.

The active caseload rose to 2747 out of which 607 (22.10 per cent) are in home isolation, 883 (32.14 per cent) in CHICs, 772 (28.10 per cent) in CCCs and 485 (17.66 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 92 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 137 are on oxygen support and 31 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre even though these facilities have 166, 21 and 4 patients respectively.

At the same time, 6 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Sunday evening, 605 beds including 101 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Saturday evening 2695 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 332 beds (21 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 87,694 positive cases and 1437 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month recorded 3161 new cases and 29 fatalities out of which 1695 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, all the 195 new positive cases (98 male & 97 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at RIMS (17), JNIMS (13) and other testing centres (165) .

The positive cases are from Imphal East (41), Imphal West (102), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (5), Chandel (9), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (3), Tengnoupal (2), Noney (1), Pherzawl (3) and Kangpokpi (3) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 293 patients were discharged from home isolation (123), RIMS (8), JNIMS (11), CCCs (105) and CHICs (46) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,17,094 (general population - 1,12,923 and CAPF personnel - 4,171).Number of recovered cases is 1,12,536 (general population - 1,08,409 and CAPF personnel - 4,127) and number of active cases is 2,747 (general population - 2,708 and CAPE personnel - 39).The recovery rate is 96.11 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1369 D-type and 247 B -type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 3036 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 12,00,549 out of which only 3,93,307 are fully vaccinated.

As of Saturday, 91,815 people eligible for second dose of Covid vaccine are yet to get the second shot of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, six positive cases were detected in Kakching district out of 52 samples tested in between 2 pm Saturday till 2 pm Sunday.

All the patients are residents of the district.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (39,875), Imphal East (25,923), Thoubal (9231), Churachandpur (9876), Kangpokpi (2683), Tamenglong (3229), Bishnupur (8866), Senapati (2131), Ukhrul (2498), Kakching (6278), Chandel (2218), Noney (1053), Tengnoupal (1022), Jiribam (1012), Kamjong (771) and Pherzawl(428).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (601), Imphal East (428), Thoubal (166), Churaehandpur (154), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (1-3), Bishnupur (184), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (29), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney ft), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 37,736 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,808 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,02,984 tests per million population against the national average of 3,88,058 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 2995 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 6.51 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity marginally dropped to 9.36 per cent.
