WY tablets seized

Imphal, September 12 2021:
A team of Anti Smuggling Unit of Customs Division Imphal arrested two persons along with WY amphetamine tablets worth around Rs 5 crore yesterday from Khoibu village near Kakching Lamkhai.
According to sources, the team intercepted two persons carrying a backpack near Kakching Lamkhai on receiving inputs about the illegal transportation of banned drug items along the Imphal Moreh road.
The two persons have been identified as Dangshawa Kosam Tamrung Maring (34) s/o Dangshawa Robin Maring of Laiching Minou Machi Sub Division and Md Salim (37) s/o Salaoddin of Sekmaijing Khunou Konuma.
On checking, the team found five packets containing 50,000 WY tablets weighing around 5 kilogram from the backpack.
The duo was arrested on spot by observing necessary formalities.
A case has been registered under NDPS Act.
Dangshawa Kosam and Md Salim have been remanded to judicial custody by Chief Judicial Magistrate Chandel.
