Imphal, September 12 2021:
Mongjam Poireihanba has declared his decision to contest the forthcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Lamlai assembly constituency.
He made the announcement during a solemn function held at Ibudhou Chingkhei Ningthou Shanglen; Yourabung on Sunday, which was attended by several public leaders and representatives from various polling stations of the AC.
Speaking at the event, Poireihanba highlighted that he has been taking up several developmental works in all the polling stations of the constituency for the last 14 years.
Unfortunately, he had to stop his works in the last couple of years due to Covid-19 pandemic.
People of the constituency feel betrayed by their representative, who forfeited his membership due to personal greed and they want to elect a new representative, who will always walk with them in every circumstance and who will serve them with sincerity and commitment.
He simply took the opportunity to contest the election seeing the discontentment of the public and he is committed to serve the people of his constituency, he said.
Since long, Lamlai assembly constituency has been one of the most backward constituencies of the state in terms of road, bridges, drinking water, etc.
Moreover, most of the local clubs do not have proper buildings and playgrounds while most of the localities lack good community halls.
He has been helping the people in this regards for several years.
He will start repairing the Yourabung to Cheiraoching road from Monday onwards.
Besides, there are several issues such as irrigation facilities which he could not take up on his own without being an MLA, which is why he decided to contest the election so that he could serve the public better.
His election committee president Yumnam Yaima, vice-presidents Sinam Ibopishak & Laitonjam Munan, Yourabung Ward No 3 president Laitonjam Kheda, Yourabung Village Development Committee president Ngairangbam Surchandra, social worker Yumnam Irabot and several others attended the programme.
