Shops gutted

Moirang, September 12 2021:
An inferno has gutted a row of shops having five rooms at Moirangkhunou Teramakhong under Keibul police station today at around 2.45 am.
From the site, it is reported that the shops were rented by one Moirangthem Dilip, s/o late M Nilachand of Moirangkhunou Teramakhong.
The shops that have been destroyed by the fire include one grocery store, 2 godowns, one electronic shop, one spare parts shop for four-wheelers and a tent house.
Of the 6 shops, the grocery and the electronic store was run by Dilip himself while the remaining were rented to others.
The other shops belonged to Ph Bikram of Moirang Phairembam Leikai (grocery godown); N Somorjit from Ithai (spare parts shop); Aheibam Roshankumar of Moirangkhunou (tent house).
It is reported that the fire consumed properties worth around Rs 1.5 crore.
Speaking to media persons, Dilip claimed that the fire being sparked from a short circuit is less likely as power connected to houses from the shops was not disturbed.
The fire was prevented from spreading further by the Moirang Fire Service.
