More Congress MLAs joining BJP: CM Biren

Imphal, October 08 2021: Former Congress member and ex-MLA of Moirang assembly constituency M Prithviraj has joined BJP.

Chief minister N Biren, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda, Moirang MLA P Saratchandra, MLA Susindro, union minister of state Pratima Bhaumik, BJP national spokesperson Sam-bit Patra, national general secretary Abhay Giri and other party leaders attended the felicitation function of Prithviraj held at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong on Friday.

Speaking at the event, CM Biren opined that several Congress leaders are joining the BJP as they believe in BJP and its policies for a better Manipur.

After Govindas Konthoujam and Prithviraj, more Congress MLAs and leaders would also be joining BJP before the 2022 election, he revealed.

Prithviraj said that his decision to join BJP was not a new one.

He used to work for Congress party and the party won big in the 2014 election.

After that, downfall of Congress party began due to various loopholes and shortcomings.

As he was aware of the shortfalls in Congress, he has been willing to join BJP for a long time.

However, his decision to join BJP does not necessarily mean he is criticising Congress party, he added.
