Five held with drugs worth ₹ 6 cr

Imphal, April 06 2022:
A team of Tengnoupal district police on Wednesday arrested three people with approximately 684 gm of brown sugar worth Rs 1.44 crore from Moreh Police check gate.
The police team later managed to arrest the supplier of the seized .

The three accused people have been identified as Md Sahidul Islam (21), son of Kamaluddin of Karimganj; Ajimuddin Khan (22), son of Abdul Salam Khan of Kunapara; and Abdul Halim (22), son of Karim Ali of, Karimganj, all in Assam.
According police report, the three were arrested around 3:30 pm after 60 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar were recovered from the Tata Sumo (ML 048-7056) they were travelling in.
In follow up action, one person namely Peter Kharnbilian (22), son of (L) Nengsuamang Zou was also arrested for supplying/selling the drugs to the three.
Investigation has been started to nab the drug lords/kingpin involved in the case along with the collaboration of 'War on Drugs' teams of Moreh police station.
Later, cash reward was handed over to the team involved in the seizure of brown sugar.
On the other-hand, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) in a joint operation with Tengnoupal Police seized Rs 4.8 crore worth 'narcotics from Tengnoupal area on Tuesday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the team conducted thorough search of a vehicle and recovered 2.29 kg brown sugar packed in 55 soap cases and concealed in the dashboard of the vehicle.
The seized narcotics were assessed to be worth Rs 4.58 crore.
The recovered items along with the drug peddler were handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station for further investigation, the PRO said.
