State to seek ₹ 9000 cr grant under External Aided Project (EAP)

Chief Minister N Biren Singh reviewed the various projects being taken up in the state under the External Aided Project (EAP) during a meeting held at the CM Secretariat here on Tuesday.
Sources said that the state government will be seeking a grant of Rs 9000 crore to take more projects under EAP.
Attended by Agriculture minister Th Biswajit, Works minister K Govindas, Water Resource 'minister Awangbow Newmai, chief secretary and commissioners of different departments, the meeting reviewed the various projects being taken up under EAP in the state.
So far, projects exceeding over Rs 3000 crore have been taken up, some of which include the Manipur Water Supply project, SASEC Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong projects, etc.
The government will be proposing another amount of Rs 9000 crore under EAP to take up more projects such as the Lamphelpat Water Body project, Loktak Eco-tourism project, and Imphal Ring road project among others.
On the other hand, the CM also held a meeting with jail authorities to discuss on improving the existing infrastructure of the prisons, and problems faced by inmates convicted in drug-related crimes, anti-national activities and crime against children.
The meeting was also attended by doctors of health departments posted at different prisons of the state.
Later, another meeting was held on the different projects taken up under the Public Works Department.
The meeting was attended by the chief engineer and other subordinate engineers of the department.
The CM and the Works minister instructed the department officials to complete all ongoing projects within the specified time, while further discussing other issues faced by the department.
