Lhukhosei Zou is now ADC Chandel Chairman

The election for the Chairman of the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Chandel was held under tight security arrangement at Chingmeirong ADC Council Bhawan, Imphal on Monday.
The Congress elected ADC member Lhukhosei Zou of 16-Moreh B District Council Constituency (DCC) as the Chairman of 5th ADC, Chandel.
Lhukhosei's name was proposed by Ch Meshil, Khunbi DCC and was announced by Presiding Officer S Tongpao Mate who is also a member from 6-Sita (Tengnoupal) DCC.
He was supported by 10 Congress ADC members, two independents and two BJP members.
The installation ceremonies of the ADCs were held in respective district headquarters except for Chandel District which was held in the Imphal.
Speaking to media persons, Lhukhosei Zou said that in the last ADC election, Congress formed all the councils in six ADCs in the State but now the party managed to capture just two - Sadar Hills and Chandel.
He expressed gratitude to the elected ADC members for re-electing him as the Chairman and appealed for cooperation so that there will be smooth functioning of the ADC to develop the district.
Meanwhile, the ADC members belonging to Democratic Alliance of Chandel comprising of Naga Peoples Front (NPF), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Independent members abstained from attending the ceremony.
It may be recalled that Mathew Maring, a leader of the Democratic Alliance of Chandel member from 5-Rilram Centre DCC was declared the Chairman at the office of the ADC located at Monsang Pantha on September 9 by the Government nominated Presiding Officer Ringo Dilbung who is also an elected ADC member from 10-Aihang DCC.
