Imphal, September 14 2015:
United Meetei Young Forum (UMYF) has appealed to the United Naga Council (UNC) to review their stand of boycotting Sugnu A/C MLA Kangujam Ranjit from entering Naga inhabited areas.
A statement signed by the president of UMYF said that the decision to boycott the MLA was announced after MLA Ranjit himself clarified through local media that what he meant to say was "no Naga from Nagaland lives in Manipur" .
No organization or body boycotted leaders of UNC when the later took major role in torching and vandalizing number of vehicles and injuring many during the 100 days economic blockade along the National Highways, said the statement while appealing the UNC to immediately stop inciting communal feelings in the state.
The statement further said that MLA Ranjit is one person who fearlessly visited hill districts aimed at bringing communal harmony in the state though he was ambushed twice by unknown persons.
UNC should remember the good efforts committed by Ranjit irrespective of hill or valley, continued the statement before adding that UMYF will give every possible effort to build communal integrity in Manipur.
