Training of children necessary for preserving culture: L.Iboyaima

'It is necessary to nurture children for preserving the culture of the land', Chairman of Forward Artistes Centre En-camped (FACE) L.Iboyaima has stated at the closing function of the 20-day Manipuri Dance and Theatre Training for children at Rupmahal Theatre here on Saturday.
Iboyaima, who presided over the function of the training conducted in connection with the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Forward Artistes Centre En-camped, said, "We need to provide training to children for protecting the cultural identity of the land." Saying that children of today do not get time for play and recreation due to the heavy schedules of private tuition and school, he emphasized that children should be given ample time for playing in addition to education.
Dancing is beneficial to heath of the children, as it involves movement of the body, he reiterated, while adding that healthy students are always ahead of the ailing ones in academic competitions.
It is necessary to encourage the children to engage in sports and cultural activities, he added.
As art forms such as 'Moirang Parva' are important cultural elements of the land, it would be useful to understand the art form, he maintained.
Acknowledging the efforts made by various organisations in the field, Chief guest W.Mera, Retired Deputy Director of Art and Culture Department, Government of Manipur, said the people of this land must work to preserve and protect the beautiful culture of the land.
The function was also marked by display of songs and dances.
A drama "Haima Adu Oireko" based on an episode of Moirang Parva was performed at the end of the function.
