TB claims 224 lives in 3 yrs

Imphal, June 29 2014:
Tuberculosis (TB) claimed 224 lives in Manipur in the past three years while a total of 1,795 TB patients are now under treatment at different tuberculosis treatment centres and hospitals in the State.
This figure is based on the statistics provided by the Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTBCP), Manipur.
As per the record, as of October, 2013, as many as 1,509 people suffering from TB were detected in the State and the number of TB patients in the State is recorded at 1,795 at present.
In 2013 and early part of the current year, TB claimed 61 lives in the State.
A total of 2,567 TB patients were treated in the period between 2011 and 2012 .
During this period, 103 died of TB.
Moreover, during the period between 2012 and 2013, 1,677 TB patients were registered and 80 of them died.
