10 rice bags donated to Majorkhul fire victims

Rendering a Samaritan service, All Manipur Clubs' Organization (AMUCO) donated 10 bags of rice (50 kg) to the relief camp set up at Majorkhul to assist victims of the fire that broke out at Majorkhul on June 24 in which more than a dozen of houses and shops were gutted destroying property worth crores of rupee.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of donating the rice bags on Saturday, Ph Devan, vice-president of AMUCO, said that the rice bags, which were managed from the amount collected from the public in connection with the fire incident, were donated to the relief camp considering difficulties faced by the fire victims in procuring essential commodities.
He stated that AMUCO had extended assistance in various forms to victims of such unfortunate incident in the past and would continue to do so in future too.
Thambaljao Phaomei, secretary of the relief camp committee, thanked AMUCO for providing the assistance and said that such help would strengthen the ties between people in the hills and the valley.
He informed that more than 300 people are taking shelter in the relief camp and an amount of Rs 5 lakhs have been received as donation so far.
