Investor awareness programme held

The Nehru Yuva Kendra Imphal West in collaboration with the Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Guwahati and the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd, Kolkata organized an Investor Awareness Programme at Kuranganayani Hall of DC Office, Lamphelpat, Imphal on June 29 with 120 participants.
Prof N Muhindro Singh, Chairman, District Planning Committee, Manipur, Sahib Singh, Zonal Director, NYKS and Kh Devabrata Singh were the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour of the day long function respectively.
Sidhartha Sanganeria, Assistant General Manager, NSE and Hmar, Assistant General Manager, NSE, Guwahati were the resource persons.
The NSS Programme Officers and students of Manipur University, Oriental College, Imphal College, and the youth club leaders of Mentor youth clubs, affiliated youth club members attended the discussion session.
The artistes of Lairenkabi Dramatic Union presented folk song and dance in the programme.
Earlier, Y Laksman Singh, District Youth coordinator, NYK Imphal West highlighted about the need for organizing such programmes in the interest of the youths, students, officials and the general public.
He said before 'We invest our money we have to spend some time.
Investing money is very profitable but there is a risk factor associated in all markets.
Investors should know the role played by SEBI' .
Only 19 pc of the people in Manipur have bank accounts.
People are not yet aware about the financial literacy.
Much are yet to be done.
The concept of financial market, infrastructural market and skill markets are not very familiar with the general population.
Lack of consistency is a major factor in the State.
The initiative taken up by NYK for financial literacy should be encouraged by all, he stressed.
