Pineapple fair begins at Thambalnu market

The Development Organisatiop Andro Kendra today organised the 7th State level Pineapple Fair cum Youth Festival 2014 at Thambalnu Market Complex located at Poiroupat Lamkhai of Andro Assembly Constituency.
The organiser is targeting to sell 5490 quintals of pineapple and 3340 litres of pineapple juice during the fair which would continue till July 3.While inaugurating the pineapple fair cum youth festival, Commerce and Industry Minister Govindas Konthou-jam declared that neccesary fund would be earmarked in the next financial year for setting up a mobile fruit juice extension unit considering the continuous organisation of State level pineapple festival.
He also informed the gathering that there is no provision for setting up of cold storage in the area as the pineapple and vegatable production only meets the domestic demand and no surplus.
The Minister also mentioned that cold storage needs uninterrupted power supply and huge investment.

He then appealed the farmers to produce more products by opting for organic farming and added that the State's economy could be enhanced by exporting organic farming products.
He also expressed his concern over the issue of work culture deficit of the State and appealed the youth to align their mindset with the Look East Policy of the country.
He then mentioned about the possible demographic changes after the completion of railway line for which the youth of the State should develop a steady work culture.
The MLA of the constituency Th Shyamkumar Singh stressed on cultivating healthy work culture for economic development while articulating about the pineapple of the area.
The local MLA also expressed his anticipation of a possible help from the Deputy CM.
During his speech, he also assured the gathering that there would be a piggery production unit with a total cost of Rs 20 crore in the constituency.
