Kuki Inpi organises seminar cum workshop

The Kuki Inpi Manipur in collobaration with United NGOs Mission, Manipur on Saturday organised one day seminar cum workshop on International Humaniterian Law and Geneva Call's Mission at the Conference Hall of Hill Tribal Council, Moreh, it said in a press release.
Khaimang Chongloi, general secretary KIM gave the keynote address stating as to why the Kuki Inpi had taken up initiative in conducting such awareness programme.
He asserted that the Kuki Inpi Manipur initiated this awareness programme in order to create cordial atmosphere and give every individual civilians a sense of living with dignity, peace and harmony judiciously, it said in the release.
Highlighting KIM policy and programne, he mentioned that the such awareness programme will also be held at Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Saikul in Sadar Hills shortly in the larger interest of literating the general public.
Babloo Loitongbam, Executive Director of Human Rights Alert, resource person of the workshop spoke on Importance of International Humaniterian Law and Its Implementation.
While detailing the historical background, he stated that the world withnessed the reign of terror due to uses of explosive bombs during World War I & II in the 19th century, resulting to irreparable losses and casualties among the innocent civilians.
Geneva Convention was founded in 1963 and Humaniterian Laws were enacted so as to safe guard the innocent civilians.
Thangkhosei Haokip, president of Kuki Inpi Manipur lectured on Geneva Call's Mission and Deed of Commitment/Agreement.
In his presentation, he emphasistically mentioned the 15 key rules of behaviour for fighters in internal armed conflict and prohibition of sexual violence and gender discrimination.
He also elaborated the Mission's focus on various types of crime committed by the State actor and Non-State actor against the innocent civilians including women and childrens and aged peoples.
The programme was co-ordinated by Boipu Koireng, co-ordinator, UNM and Pu Jangmang Haokip, president, HTC, Moreh delivered a word of thanks.
