Bishnupur, June 22 2021:
Refuting the statement of one Haobijam Geetajen who claimed to be an advisor of Karang Island Development Organisation (KIDO) in print and electronic media where he alleged misappropriation of funds from a project to develop Karang island into a model village, Thanga part 1 GP pradhan Oinam Romen condemned such unfounded claim and attempt to mislead the people of Karang and Thanga part 1 .
Speaking to media persons at Karang motorboat parking on Monday, pradhan Oinam Romen said that many developmental works which were not done by previous elected representatives have been taken up since he became the pradhan of the GP.
Out of the five projects submitted, Karang ward no 1 and 2 and Karang ward no 3 and Champu village have been approved by the government for developing into model village in Bishnupur district.
After the approval of developing into model village in 2019, a survey was conducted in Champu village which is selected along with Karang ward no 3 .
During that survey, the people living in the village did not have aadhaar, ration and voter cards.
Moreover, as Champhu village is located in the middle of the Loktak lake above the floating phumdis, there is difficulty in effectively implementing the project of developing a model village, Romen stated, while adding that the project is being taken up in Karang ward no 3 which is a joint venture to properly utilise fund provided by the government to develop model village.
He continued that many initiatives which are part of the project have been taken up tirelessly.
Karang has become a village with 24X7 electricity and two motorboat ambulance services particularly for Champhu village utilised as a development in the health sector.
Even though one cannot work outside their homes due to Covid-19, projects have been taken up to create a model village.
It is unfortunate that Geetajen misled the public through media by claiming that the project has failed and fund misappropriated.
His claims are unfounded and out rightly rejected, Romen asserted, while adding that every activities for developing model village is done by respective GP under the department concerned.
The GPs do not interfere in the works of the department.
So, anyone who wants to know about the ongoing project can visit the village at any time, he added.
Romen stressed that most of the works for developing model village are now ongoing process.
The fund misuse allegations levelled by Geetajen of an unfinished project against GP and department are synonymous to the proverb of killing the act before the birth of the cattle.
If the allegations of Geetajen are true then there is a need for discussing to make the work progress.
But if it is false, then GP is prepared to file defamation case against Geetajen, he cautioned.
