Virus caseload crosses 100-mark for fourth time in Kpi

Kangpokpi district's COVID-19 caseload crossed the 100-mark for the fourth time on Tuesday following the detection of 22 new cases.
The fatality count also climbed to 36 with one more death.
Last week, COVID-19 infections in the district witnessed a dip with 65 cases, but within a week it surged back to 103 after 22 positive cases were detected.
Following the reported death of a 33-year-old woman from Motbung Model village on Tuesday at RIMS Hospital, the number of fatalities in the district has climbed to 36.Maunching (33), wife of SL Kamkhohao of Motbung model village passed away around 12:23 pm at RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
She was buried at Motbung Model Village Cemetery following strict COVID protocols.
Meanwhile, the COVID Task Force (CTF) of Kangpokpi AC has intensified preventive measures in their respective areas and continued to carry out various COVID-related activities.
CTF Irang area organised a mass vaccination drive at Panikheti Irang Part-II Government High School in collaboration with former local ADC Sadar Hills executive member BP Vikas Basnet, medical department, and Central Task Force T Waichong under the initiative of local MLA Nemcha Kipgen.
Altogether, 210 individuals from eight villages were vaccinated during the drive.
BP Vikas Basnet and CTF Irang area chairman Man Kumar expressed profound gratitude to MLA Nemcha Kipgen, medical department and others for dedicated involvement in the vaccination drive.
CTF Kalapahar also conducted sanitization of Kalapahar PHC and its surrounding areas following a request from the medical team and assisted the medical team in sealing the residences of patients under home isolation and in contact tracing of the recently detected COVID positive patients.
CTF Kangpokpi participated in a short discussion and awareness seminar at the office chamber of Dr Paotinlal Haokip, MS, District Hospital Kangpokpi where basic technicality and Do's and Don'ts were imparted to the COVID Task Force leaders.
As per instructions of the local MLA, CMO i/c Kangpokpi Dr Ph Henkhoneng Mate issued a memorandum on June 19 stating that in order to streamline the fight against COVID-19, necessary awareness and orientation to COVID Task Force on COVID Appropriate Behaviour shall be imparted so that they can ensure COVID appropriate behaviour among the general public.
Meanwhile, with an aim to improve COVID-19 vaccination rate in 50-Kangpokpi assembly constituency, MLA Nemcha will be launching a COVID-19 vaccination vehicle on Wednesday for transportation of any willing individual to the vaccination site at IB Hall, Kangpokpi.
