Mass rally held against Ibemhal killing

Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Kambam Ibemhal Devi of Yairipok Poiroukhongjin organised a huge rally on Thursday in Yairipok area under Imphal East demanding punitive action against the accused.
Later, a meeting was organized at Thambalnu market and resolved to boycott the local MLA and banish all suspects in the killing from the locality.
It may be mentioned that Ibemhal was found murdered on August 18 morning around 11.30 in her own residence and the unidentified killers also looted a huge amount of money from the residence.
The mass rally, participated by around two thousand people from both Andro and Wangkhem A/C, started from Thambalnu market of Yairipok Kaina Lamkhai and reached Yairipok bazaar.
The protesters then headed towards Andro Police Station at Ngariyan Ching but they were stopped by police.

Later a meeting was organised at Thambalnu market where Tulihal Zilla Parishad member K Tombi, Apunba Nupi Khunai Kanba Lamjing Meira Lup Imphal East Yairipok president Asem Ibetombi Leima, Apunba Nupi Khunai Kanba Lamjing Meira Lup Thoubal District Yairipok president Maibam Tathot Leima and secretary Sumati Devi along with leaders of different clubs, meira paibis and organizations took the chair as presidium members.
The meeting resolved to submit a memorandum to Chief Minister, Home Minister, DGP and Imphal East SP on Friday to demand life imprisonment for Kambam Dhaso Singh (46), Kambam Bira Singh (48), Kambam Ramkumar Singh (38) and Kambam Lilabiro Singh (50), who are now in judicial custody in connection with the killing.
The meeting also resolved to launch intensified agitations from September 16 onwards with the help of Civil Society Organisations of Manipur if the Government fails to fulfill their demands by September 15 .
It resolved to banish the four accused along with their families from the locality if they fail to surrender to the JAC by September 15 .
It was further resolved to boycott the local MLA Th Shyamkumar in Poiroukhongjin area from September 16 if the MLA fails to produce the accused persons by September 15 and to banish those who are giving secret information of the JAC to the family members of the accused.
