ALT conducts surprise checks on schools

Anal Lelruwl Tangpi (ALT) or Anal Students Union conducted series of surprise inspections on Government Institutions and Private run schools located in the District Headquarters Chandel from September 7 onwards till Friday.
The inspections and visits were part of the union's campaign against mass copying and impersonations during Manipur Board and Council examinations; students of High Schools' using electronic devices like cell phones, ipods, headphones and students indulging in substance of tobacco related products, smoking, drinking wine, and riding bikes or vehicles within & outside of Schools' Premises.
While pointing out that defaulters will be liable for punishment or imposition of a fine, union asked the students to dress decent and value moral ethics while being focused on education.
The ALT while visiting Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School (MUGHSS), found a number of teaching and non-teaching staff absent.
The union expressed dismay with the way how these young talented & gifted students are being deprived of their right to avail quality education due to teachers' negligence of duty.
Students also said that majority of them being from economically weak background, could only afford to study in government institutions in the hope to receive the best education from well-qualified teachers with less expenses.
ALT in consultation with school authority of MUGHSS will be convening a joint meeting on September 16, 11 am at the school.
All the regular teaching and non-teaching staff have been informed to attend the meeting positively.
The consequences for failing to attend the meeting will be on their own risks, said ALT.
Meanwhile, ALT appealed stakeholders/contractors to finish the unfinished buildings under RMSA&SSA at MUGHSS.
The union also appealed for the completion of Chandel Hospital 50 bedded building; Chandel Christian Sports Complex; Road between Pallel & Chandel and other State & Centre sponsored schemes.
ALT warned of resorting to organized protest rallies and adopt various forms of agitation if no positive response is forthcoming within five days from Saturday.
