Women bodies allow banished families to live again in locality

Five women associations have allowed 32 members of seven families to live again in their locality after they were banished from there in connection with the assault of a teacher by three persons on August 7 last at Takyel Kolom Leikai of Imphal West.
President of Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, L Memchoubi said that Prameshwor from Langjing was beaten up by Tongbram Chetan, Longjam Rakesh and Tonsam Lekin on August 7 night at Takyel Kolom Leikai when the teacher went to drop his two girl students.
The three youths along with the local clubs and meira paibis tried to bring a solution after the incident, said Memchoubi and added that instead of bringing a solution, Takyel Kolom Meira Paibi Lup banished 32 members of seven families from their locality over the incident.
The five women associations Kanglei Mei, All Manipur Tammee-Chingmee Apunba Nupi Lup, Nupi Samaj, AMKIL and Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur looked into the matter regarding harassment meted out to all the family members for the wrong deed committed by a single person.
The associations appealed to the Takyel Kolom Meira Paibi Lup to allow the families to live again in the locality.
Condemning the Takyel Kolom Meira Paibi Lup for taking law into their hands, Young Progressive Club, Takyel Kolom Leikai and the five women associations organised a meeting and took the decision.
The meeting also decided to impose a ban on the Takyel Kolom Meira Paibi Lup from participating in social activities.
