Senapati, September 05 2021:
Two student bodies have declared non co-operation with the Government over its 'anti-tribal' attitude, a day before the State Government is scheduled to launch 'Go to Hills 2.0' at Tuibong.
The Hmar Students' Association Joint HQs, Churachandpur along with Kuki Students' Organisation, Churachandpur in a joint statement said that the bodies stand strongly against the Anti-Tribal attitudes of the Biren-led Government and have adopted a resolution to declare "Non-Cooperation" with the Government of Manipur until the HAC Bill is passed and the order to include 9 (nine) valley MLAs in the Hill Area Committee (HAC) by the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly is revoked.
"The non-tabling of the HAC Bill, 2021 and the subsequent move to include 9 (nine) valley MLAs in the HAC, in contravention to Article 371C of the Indian Constitution and Rules of Business of the State Assembly is totally anti tribal.
We can't afford to witness the hypocritical display of this Government towards tribal people," the joint statement reads.
The bodies went on to appeal to the general public of Churachandpur not to attend the launching of "Go to Hills 2.0" by the State Government scheduled to be organised tomorrow at Peace Ground, Tuibong.
