Teachers' Day celebrated, school renovated

Assam Rifles Battalions of IGAR (South) organised Teachers' Day celebration in schools of Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Noney districts on Sunday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), interactive lectures were organised by the AR units highlighting the praiseworthy and motivating life of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and his valued contribution to the education system as part of celebration at various locations followed by felicitation of the teachers in appreciation for their sustained hard work during pandemic and valued contribution in shaping the society.
A special dental checkup camp was also organised for teachers and students of Agape School, Sanaikot village in Churachandpur district to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Radhakrishnan.
Meanwhile, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) re-dedicated the Government Senior Secondary School, Gel-nel and its two hostels to the public on completion of the repair works and subsequent handing over of the school on Sunday.
According to PIB Defence, the pioneer educational institution has 13 classrooms with two hostels and is located around 43 km away from Kangpokpi (KPI) district headquarters.
Over a period of time the school building had deteriorated and required repairs.
The battalion undertook the task of repairing and landscaping, arboriculture and cleanliness drive to create a safe and pleasant learning environment.
The renovated school was handed over to school authorities by 44 Assam Rifles commandant as a gift on Teachers' Day celebration, PIB said adding that the unit and the citizens joined hands together to propagate the idea of Atmanirbhar Bharat by renovating the school building with the.help of Assam Rifles and locals utilising available resources.
