Kangpokpi, September 05 2021:
The non-SoO Kuki militant outfit KNF non-SoO group announced total shutdown on September 13 widely observed as Kuki black day by the Kuki community in all Kuki-dominated areas of Manipur and other States.
The outfit's information and publicity secretary, Jerry Vaiphei stated that the decision to impose a total shutdown was taken to pay tribute to the departed souls who had been allegedly killed by the NSCN-IM.
He also said that all commercial activities, administrative functioning, and educational institutions shall be closed from midnight of September 12 till midnight of September 13 .
However, most essential emergency services such as medical services shall be exempted from the purview of the shutdown.
The outfit stated that between 1992 to 1997 more than thousands of innocent Kukis including women and children were killed, 360 Kuki villages were uprooted and more lakhs of innocent Kukis were displaced and became refugees in their own land, and as such September 13 become the greatest lamentation in the Kuki history.
The Kuki National Front (non-SoO) has kept silent thus far to bring back peace and justice between the two communities following our late president Nehkholun Kipgen words.
However, we will no longer keep silent over such brutality upon the Kukis but respond accordingly, it added.
