Imphal, September 05 2021:
Resenting Government's 'indifferent' attitude towards their demand to fill up required teachers at Jiribam Schools, the KSO Jiribam and Tamenglong and MSF District Committee Jiribam have announced an indefinite bandh along NH 37 from September 7 onwards.
The student bodies in a joint press release said that the bodies have joined hands to sort out the issue regarding the shortage of teachers at Jiribam Higher Secondary School and Borobekra Higher Secondary School, Jiribam.
The two student bodies have been appealing the State Government to post an adequate number of teachers at the said schools.
However, the State Government instead issued posting orders of three teachers against 6 required.
Moreover, the State Government has not provided a replacement for teachers who were transferred, the release said.
Despite repeated appeals the State Government has turned a deaf ear to their demand, it said and urged the Government to revoke the transfer order for the sake of the student community in Jiribam.
The National Highway bandh will remain in force until the demands are met, said the student bodies.
Emergency services, medical, power supply and religious matters and local business will be exempted from the purview of the bandh, the bodies added.
