Imphal, September 16 2022:
Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Senapati on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to utilise the latest technology for increasing the crop yield of the state.
The MoU was appended by CAU Imphal vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra and HIT Senapati director Professor Krishnan Baskar at the mini conference hall of CAU.
Speaking on the occasion, HIT director Professor Krishnan Baskar observed that though Manipur has an agricultural eco-system, the main task is how to help increase the yield and what technology needs to be utilised for the same.
However, technology cannot replace humans, but act as an assistance to speed up the process.
The usage of latest technologies would not only help increase the yield but also income, he stated, while adding that the MoU will provide an opportunity for the two institutions to work together in varied fields.
CAU VC Dr Anupam Mishra said that technology is becoming increasingly important at present times.
He then suggested using drones to sow seeds in hilly areas which are not accessible by roads in addition to assessing what could be done for the areas.
