CM Ibobi says everyone should help the needy

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Saturday stated that extending service to the needy people and taking responsibility together towards bringing a good society is a much-needed task for everyone.
The CM was attending the 36th Annual Lions District Conference hosted by Lions Club, Imphal at City Convention here.
Speaking during the inaugural function of the conference, Ibobi stated that everyone should have empathy towards the needy people and work for the betterment of the society.
The CM said that the Lions Clubs, with over 1.4 million members worldwide,have earned awe and respect for their selfless and tireless service to the needy people all over the world.
Ibobi said that the Lions' presence and services are mostly felt where relief works are necessary in incidents like natural disaster.
He cited their services in rebuilding homes, schools and clinics in massive scales in Siachuan Province of China in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes affecting 40 million people.
The CM said it is a glaring example of their selfless service.
Ibobi expressed his pride to note that India is also a leading country to have more members in the Lions Club among different countries numbering more than 60 .
"He expressed happiness that Manipur is not lagging behind other States when it comes to contribution made by Lions Clubs, and that Lion H Manikumar Singh, MJF is the District Governor of Manipur.
Ibobi said he was sure that Lions of Manipur will continue to provide humanitarian services in the State and beyond wherever there is a call for the same.
