Public discussion held

A one day public discussion on need for protection and preservation of rivers organised by Life Watch in connection with the International Rivers Day today at Kadangban Apunba Naharol (KAN) club, Kadangban resolved to collectively strive towards restoration of the deteriorated rivers to its natural form.
According to a statement, the programme was attended by Nameirakpam Raghumani, former chairperson of IMC and present councillor of ward number 13 as the chief guest while T Indrajit Meetei, founder convener of Life Watch presided the function.
Dr Ksh Imokanta, MFS, Mutum Inaobi, chairman SECC and Ksh Somorendro, president ACOAM-Lup were the guests of honour.
Human rights activist Majabung Gangmei and Nahakpam Santa, secretary, Nahakpam Foundation spoke on different sub-topics as the resource persons.
Amongst others, the discussion also resolved to elicit Govt policies or stands to the deteriorated rivers and lakes of the State through the initiative of Life Watch, it added.
