Imphal, March 14 2015 :
The Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI) has finally completed construction of 400 KVA power transmission line from Jiribam to Imphal and the same line is ready to be commissioned any time.
The PGCI has already intimated the State Govern- ment to fix a date to connect the new transmission line with the Yurembam power sub-station and put it on a trial, informed an official source.
Connection of the new transmission line with Yurembam power sub-station and putting the same line on trial may entail disruption of power supply to public for around 10 days.
As such the trial may be done in the month of April in view of Class X and Class XII exams, and closure of the financial year which demand regular power supply.
Once the transmission line is connected with Yu-rembam power sub-station, the State's power situation would see considerable improvements.

Earlier, 132 KVA power line was used for transmission of power to Manipur from power projects located outside the State.
The capacity of this transmission line was too small as compared to the State's total power demand.
With a new transmission line of 400 KVA capacity now ready to be commissioned, the State Government's plan to ensure 24 hours power supply in a day at Imphal is likely to see the light of day very soon, said the official.
Moreover, power supply would be much more regular and erratic power supply would soon become a thing of the past once the new transmission line is commissioned.
Under unbundling power department into two companies, installation of pre-paid meter systems have been already begun at Imphal and all district headquarters.
