Imphal, September 30 2021:
United Development Organization, Mayang Imphal have appealed to all concerned including clubs, organizations, CSOs and meira paibis etc to refrain from receiving or giving bribes in exchange for one's vote with regard to the upcoming 12th Legislative Assembly Election.
A press note issued by United Development Organization today has held this foul practice of bribery responsible for the most pervasive issues of corruption plaguing the society and as a result slowing down the pace of progress of the State.
The press release added that politicians try to recover the money they spent during elections via the recruitment process of various jobs.
In turn, people offer bribes to these elected individuals to secure Government jobs.
These people then charge money from normal citizens for any type of paperwork that requires processing in order to recover the money paid in bribes.
And thus continues the never ending loop of corruption, added the statement.
It continued that this practice of bribery makes a mockery of the democratic process of elections, upon which hinges the fate of the State.
United Development Organization further urged everyone to do away with this corrupt practice and thus save oneselves and the State from the looming threat of economic and moral regression.
It is worth mentioning that United Development Organization have previously organised awareness campaigns, debate competitions and discussions on this topic.
