NERPF to meet President, PM

The leaders of regional political parties of the northeast under the banner of Northeast Regional Parties' Front (NERPF) would meet the President and Prime Minister of India to submit a memorandum and urge for the welfare and development of the indigenous people of the northeast.
Talking to media persons at the office of Manipur People's Party (MPP) here today, Spokesperson of MPP and Coordinator of NERPF H Nabashyam said that President of MPP N Sovakiran, President of NPF Neiphiu Rio, President of AGP Prafullokumar Mahanta, President of MUDP Donkupar Roy and leaders of other regional parties of the northeast would meet the President and Prime Minister in New Delhi.
The NERPF was formed on October 20, 2013 and subsequently, its second meeting was convened at Dimapur on December 20 last.
During the meeting, the leaders decided to meet the President and Prime Minister to urge them to take up measures for protection of indigenous people of the northeast, job reservation for northeast people in public and private sectors along with other welfare and development programmes for the northeast, the Spokesperson noted.
He further said that the core issues of the State pertaining to deplorable national highways, border fencing, AFSPA and ILP System would also be included in the charter of demands of the NERPF to the Indian Government.
Nabashyam further said that the repairing works of Makru and Barak Bridges being carried out by Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) is a shameful act of the State Government.
The Ministers and MLAs of the ruling Congress Party could not perform anything for the people, he added.
