A 2-day long membership awareness programme on Teachers Rights & Obligations, which is being organized by All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association (AMESTA) under the sponsorship of All India Primary Teachers' Federation (AIPTE) began from today at SSA Hall, Thangmeiband here.
The inaugural function was attended by W Chandrakumar, Addl Director of Education (S), Government of Manipur as Chief Guest; JR Engpu, president of AMESTA as President while Gopimohon Maibam, Zonal Education Officer, Zone-I, Government of Manipur as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, W Chandrakumar stated that the Education Department has been considered one of the corrupted government departments with reported incident of scams and scandals every now and then.
But the government is not alone to be blamed for deep rooted corruption in the State because the public is also main part of the system.
He further said many people are willing to pay huge amount of money to the concerned department or officials for getting jobs of their desire, thus, making the system more corrupted.
Now some changes are to be expected as the teachers have also come out strongly against the system.
W Chandrakumar went on to observe that the government employees should not be too curious about promotion or upgradation as such achievement is just a matter of time.
Instead, they should render their services diligently and consider the growth and development of the State.
