Imphal, March 29, 2014:
Striking back against the statement of Chief Minister O Ibobi and Dy CM during the flag hoisting ceremony of Congress candidate for Outer MPC, Thangso Baite yesterday at Churachandpur, the Naga People's Front (NPF) said that 'one of the most sinister designs to mislead the people of Manipur is none other than the lies and malice uttered by the two leaders'.
On CM Ibobi's reference to NPF as an ethno exclusive political parties, the NPF in a statement said that the party is not just for one particular community, rather, it's for all communities in the North East region to fight for the aspirations and rights of the region.
Accordingly, North Eastern Regional Parties Front (NERPF) was formed on October 20, 2013 in Guwahati under the initiative of the NPF.
Neiphiu Rio is the Convenor of that Front.
NPF is hopeful of wining in both Nagaland and Manipur.
"Congress leaders are reminded of the full-fledged existence of NPF divisional units in Churachandpur district with Genlunthang as president and Sadar Hills with LK Chongloi as president.
Election committees in all assembly segments in Thoubal district have also been instituted.
Thus, the Congress leaders' allegation of exclusivity does not stand a chance, it countered.
Coming down on Dy CM's statement on 'remarkable development' taking place in the hills, NPF said that such statement is fraught with lopsided assessment of the real ground situation in the hill areas while categorically asking the Deputy CM if he road conditions from Imphal to various hill districts can really be called "remarkable development." How about drinking water supply and power supply in the hill areas? At least in the valley, there is VIP and pre-paid power supply and the road conditions are much better compare to the "remarkable development" in hill districts, it added.
"Lopsided development in both hills and valley could be because of what the Congress veteran, Rishang Keishing said, "....the Congress party has now grown weaker and shrunk because the party is full of corrupt people and leaders," on the occasion of Congress 127 years of existence at Congress Bhavan in Imphal on December 28, 2012 as reported in a newspaper," it added.
NPF is happy to learn from Thangso Baite for admitting that he has miserably failed to fulfil and perform the wishes of the people in the past five years as Member of Parliament.
Thus, it can rightly be stated that ills such as rampant corruption, lack of development, lack of quality education, unemployment, inequality, injustice, human rights violations, etc in Manipur especially in the hill areas are to be blamed to the ruling elites of the Congress party, it contended while appealing each and everyone to support, vote and elect Soso Lorho for peace, progress, good governance and development.
