Imphal, June 20 2021:
Out of the total 20 lakh people in the state who are eligible to get vaccinated, around 5 lakh above 18 years of age have been vaccinated till date while target has been set to vaccinate 70 per cent of the total population within December this year, said NHM State Health Society Mission director Dr N Shyamjai.
A one-day Media Sensitisation Programme on COVID-19 Vaccination was organised by National Health Mission Manipur at the mini auditorium of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Lamphel on Saturday.
Addressing the limited gathering, Dr Shy- amjai said that after the vaccination drive was launched in January, the month of May recorded the highest vaccination rate.
However, the inoculation rate declined due to some unfortunate circumstances.
Urging people to get vaccinated without any hesitancy, he reminded that it is the only protection against Covid-19 infection.
The government is also planning to vaccinate 70 percent of the total population by December this year, he conveyed, while adding that the media sensitisation programme was held in this regard.
On the other hand, editors need to help in disseminating information about the Covid-19 vaccination programme and related activities taken up by the departments so as to dispel all misleading information and address the concerns of the people, Shyamjai stressed.
The programme was attended by Editors' Guild Manipur president Khogendra Khom- dram and Impact TV chief editor Yumnam Rupachandra as the presidium members.
