Kamjong, June 20 2021:
The Kamjong District Co-ordination Committee (KDCC) observed the 49th anniversary of the Order of the then President of India, W Giri, dated June 20, 1972 regarding the constitution of Hill Area Committee (HAC) of the Manipur Legislative Assembly for Tribal/Hill people of Manipur under the provision of Article 371 C of the Indian Constitution.
The KDCC honoured the Order of the former President of India and expressed deep concern over the non-execution of Article 371 C by the tribal ML As under the banner of HAC though there is a separate policy for development and welfare of the hill/tribal of Manipur with provisions of local self-government.
The non-execution of Article 371 C by the tribal MLAs with nefarious interference by the State Government has become the main factor of the overall de-development in the hill areas of Manipur, it alleged.
The KDCC further appealed to the tribal MLAs to fully implement the provisions of Article 371 C for proper functioning of HAC in the interest of the tribal people and urged the State Government to refrain from interfering for proper functioning of the HAC.
