Hiyangthang Tarahei Meitei Pangals greet Titular King at Sana Konung

Local leaders and representatives of Meitei Pangal community of Hiyangthang Tarahei visited the Sana Konung and met Titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba today.
Presenting gifts, the members of the community called on the Titular King to re-enforce the bond between the Meitei and Meitei Pangal and other communities in the State.
Welcoming the guests, Leishemba Sanajaoba recalled the early settlement of the Meitei Pangal community in the State.
They were provided shelters and Meitei women were married off to them during the time of King Khagemba, he said pointing out that Meitei Pangals have a unique identity from that of other Muslims elsewhere.

Underscoring the need to further improve the bonds between the communities, Leishemba said that the Meiteis and the Meitei Pangals are related by blood.
He further announced that such meeting will continue on July 17 every year to re-enforce and develop the bond of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence between the two communities.
Titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba also declared that the Sana Konung is not only for Meiteis but for all communities in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Buyamayum Majid Shah expressed concern that some have different outlook on the Meitei Pangal community.
Meitei Pangals are often seen and treated as others, he said stressing the need to educate people about the history and the unbreakable bonds between the communities.
He also criticised the various unverified and demeaning comments floating around on social media regarding the false perceptions on Meitei Pangals.
Calling on the Titular King and people of the State to maintain peaceful environment and healthy coexistence, he underscored that his community is all for peace and development of the State as a whole.
