CPI to take issues to Centre

A team of four members of Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council will leave Imphal for Delhi on July 18 to discuss issues besieging the State.
Speaking to media persons at Irawat Bhawan, State secretary of CPI, L Sotinkumar said that the four members including CPI, National executive member, Dr M Nara Singh, assistant secretary of CPI MSC, Kh Surchand Singh, National council member of CPI, Maisnam (O) Sakhi Devi and he himself will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Ministers during their visit, As the incumbent Central Government is committed on passing Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), 2016, the four member team will exert pressure on the Prime Minister, Home Minister and leaders of other political parties not to pass the contentious Bill.
The team will also pressure the President of the country to give assent to the Manipur People Bill which was passed in the State Assembly, he said.
Stating that the territory of Manipur has been encroached upon by the neighbouring country on many occasions after losing Kabow Valley, he added that the CPI leaders will meet and urge the leaders concerned to conduct a proper land survey to protect the territorial integrity of the State.
As the State is economically poor and the problem of unemployment is rising rapidly, the team will also urge the Central leaders to grant special status to the State.
The team will also urge the MPs of Manipur to take up the State's issue in the Parliament, he added.
