Students from Ukhrul and Kamjong district are deprived of school uniform issued and provided by SSA under RTE Act, said Wungnaoshang, president of Ukhrul District Teachers Welfare Association (UDTWA).
According to a statement released by him, although the annual academic session 2019 is already halfway, the students are yet to receive their school uniform from the concerned department.
He said that students from classes I-VIII are entitled to get free school uniform under RTE Act.
He continued that there are more than 10,000 students studying in 250 schools in both Ukhrul and Kamjong district who are deprived of their uniform benefit.
As per RTE Act, Rs 600 per student has been sanctioned for the purchase of uniform, he added and said that students transferred from other schools were attending without school uniform which has caused lots of inconvenience for the teachers and school administration to control them.
UDTWA urged the concerned department and the authority concerned to release the school uniform at the earliest considering the plight of the students.
