Chandel, July 17 2019:
Normal life in Chandel district headquarter town was severely affected by a total shut down which began from early this morning.
All shops remain closed and all vehicular movements were also suspended.
When this correspondent asked the reason for enforcing such shut down suddenly, it was told that the shut down was imposed for airing disappointment over the failure of the police to pursue a petition filed with the Chandel police station to arrest the Lamkang Chiefs Association leaders for imposing bandh along Pallel Chandel road and Imphal Moreh few days back, by Anal Land Jury Board together with 100 volunteers.
The supporters of today's shut down' alleged the Lamkang Chiefs Association of indulging in unlawful activities in the form of bandh and blockade and urged the law enforcing authority to book them at the earliest.
It was also informed that the 'voluntary shut down' will continue till the bandh organisers are booked under the law.
