Many decry conduct of Dingko

Imphal, January 16 2014 : Even as various organisations have come out strongly against the conduct of Asian Games Gold Medalist boxer and coach Ngangom Dingko who assaulting three women weightlifters at Khuman Lampak Special Area Games (SAG) Hostel on January 13, a protest rally was taken out at the border town Moreh today evening demanding action against Dingko.

The protest rally was attended by around 3000 people who carried torches in their hands.

Condemning the incident, All Manipur Weightlifting Association (AMWA) has demanded strong action against Asian Games Gold Medalist boxer Ngangom Dingko for assaulting three women weightlifters at Khuman Lampak Special Area Games (SAG) Hostel on January 13 .

Talking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Secretary of AMWA Sunil Elangbam said that Dingko 'brutal' act against three young women weightlifters is quite condemnable.

A reputed coach should not have behaved wildly against the young players.

The authorities concerned should take stringent action against him.

A formal complaint against the boxing coach Dingko would be sent to the officials of Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Secretary noted.

Dhyanchand Awardee weightlifter Anita Chanu said that being a coach, Dingko could have corrected the young players if they committed some mistake.

There cannot be any justification for brutality against the three young women weightlifters.

The authorities concerned should take appropriate action against him, she added.

Meanwhile, AMWA has assured to render all possible assistances to weightlifter Aranbala, who is currently undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital.

All Club, Organization, Association and Meira Paibi (ACOAM)-Lup, Kangleipak has also strongly condemned the assault of three girl weightlifting players by Ng Dingko, Padmashree awardee and Boxing Gold Medalist inside the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on January 13 .

Conveying this in a press statement, the organization demanded Ng Dingko to apologize for his deed before the three players and the public within five days.
