Guwahati, January 16 2014 :
A top Ulfa commander, Partha Gogoi, was executed on Wednesday in Nagaland's Mon district bordering Myanmar on the instructions of Paresh Baruah for "conspiring with police and security forces to engineer a mass surrender of cadres" .
Seven Ulfa cadres were executed last month for trying to flee the Myanmar base and surrender before police in Assam's Tinsukia district.
In a statement, the outfit's assistant publicity secretary, Arunodoy 'Asom', said Partha was preparing to surrender before police on January 26 along with other members.
He said Partha, the operation head of the eastern command of the outfit, was executed for conspiracy against the outfit, luring members with huge amount of money to lay down arms and passing on information and maps about locations of various camps to police.
He said Partha was leaking vital information about the camp where he was staying besides several other secret camps of the outfit.
"He was even planning a police and security strike at one of our camps on January 16" .
A top security source said, "execution of Partha is confirmed.
He was located somewhere in Naginimara in Mon district, which has a large presence of Paresh Baruah's close ally, NSCN-Khaplang" .
