Kim Gangte stresses women's role

Former MP and Trinamool Congress President Kim Gangte has said that women play an important role in bringing development and integrity in the society.
She was speaking on women empowerment and Human Rights at a one day workshop organized by Action for Women and Rural Development (AWARD), Manipur at Kanggui community hall here today.
Kim Gangte said, "Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace, who was born to a woman clearly signifies women as the most peaceful human being on the Earth" .
She said that women unify the society and play significant role in bringing development.
She stressed on the importance of women's role in the society as well as participation of women in the decision making process to bring positive changes and development.

"While it is a must to empower women and they should also clearly know and understand their rights and responsibilities", said Kim Gangte while adding that women today need to speak out and as well as act for positive changes and development.
While encouraging the women of all communities in the State to fight and face the world with peaceful attitude, Kim Gangte called on them to step out of the kitchen which traditionally keep them confined.
On the otherhand, Gangte said that women should faithfully and sincerely respect their respective husbands while men should support and encourage women to fully empower them keeping in mind that there would be no development and changes in the society until and unless women are empowered.
She said that women empowerment needs men's support.
DKThangboi Haokip, Addl DC, Kangpokpi while speaking at the workshop as functional president said that according to the Indian Constitution, every men and women have equal rights while adding that women need not hesitate to join politics.
She said that women must come forward to contest and join in the decision making process.
Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills Inpipu President Seikhomang Khongsai lamented that in the past, women are not counted but in today's generation, nothing is possible without women.
KUMHUR Secretary Dr S Chongloi, who attended the workshop as speaker spoke on Human Rights and its importance.
Kuki Inpi Gunhom Lhang Inpipu President Tongkhohao Kipgen, KWU Sadar Hills Secretary Neinu, Rev Tongjam Haokip, Chairman KTCF, Chunglet, Ex-Pastor KBC, various area civil bodies and women of Kanggui town also attended the workshop.
